Upgrading from the preview version to the official version of Windows 8.1 will require reinstalling the application

Computer Store News: Microsoft has outlined what it would be like to upgrade from Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 Preview to Win 8.1. For those upgrading from the Windows 8.1 preview, they will need to reinstall all of their applications. Because this update process only apologizes for data on the device, all applications from the Windows Store or desktop will need to be reinstalled.

Upgrading from Windows 8 to the final version of Windows 8.1 Preview will transfer all of the user's files, settings and applications. However, if the user is upgraded from Windows 8.1 Preview, only the data will be migrated; all desktop or Windows Store apps must be reinstalled.

Microsoft said that Windows 8.1 is still in the development stage and there are certain risks, so users should use it on test machines or other non-critical computers.

Another thing is that Microsoft is expected to release the Windows 8.1 Enterprise Preview ISO in the next few weeks.
