1. Back up the operating system using System Restore

System Restore can be performed under the Windows XP graphical interface. If you can't enter the graphical interface, you can also do it in command line mode. .

(1) Start System Restore Function

By default, Windows XP System Restore is enabled. If System Restore is turned off, you can start it as follows:

Click on the “Start → Control Panel” menu item and double-click the “System” icon in the dialog box that appears to open “ System Properties & rdquo; dialog box, click the "System Restore" tab, click Cancel “ Turn off System Restore on all drives. Then select the disk or partition where the system is located in the drive list, click the “Configure” button, and in the dialog box that appears, click Cancel & ldquo; Close the drive's System Restore & rdquo; option, and set for system restore The size of the disk space. Click “OK" to turn on the system restore feature for that partition.

(2) System Restore under the graphical interface

Click “Start →All Programs →Accessories →System Tools →System Restore"Menu Item, Open“System Restore & rdquo; dialog box, click to select "Create a restore point" option, click the "Next" button, after the restore point is named (description) in the dialog box that appears, click & ldquo; create & rdquo ; button to create a new restore point. When the restore point is created, the current state of the system partition will be saved. Once the system has a problem, it can be restored to this state.

When performing a restore operation, click the "Restore my computer to an earlier time" option from the "System Restore" dialog box and click the "Next" button. In the dialog box that appears, first select the date to be restored in the calendar, and select a restore point in the list of restore points, click the “Next” button to start the restore, and the system returns to restore after restarting. Point status.

(3) Restore system in command line mode

Press F8 to display the boot menu when Windows XP starts, select “Safe Mode with Command Prompt” in the boot menu. ;, and log in as an administrator, enter “%systemroot%system32 estore strui.exe” at the command line prompt, press Enter to restore the system to the normal state according to the wizard on the screen.

2.Using cloning software to back up the operating system

Ghost is the most commonly used cloning software. It can make hard disk or hard disk partition into an image file or copy it to another hard disk without any difference. And the hard disk partition goes. After Ghost restores the image file to the hard disk partition or hard disk, it is guaranteed to be the same as the data and backup.

(1) Backup system partition

Performing backup and restore with Ghost is best done in DOS state. After running Ghost, the “About” dialog box will be displayed first, and click the “OK” button to enter the main interface of Ghost. In the main interface, select the "Local" & rarr; Partition & rarr; To Image menu command to make the partition into an image file.

Next, the program asks you to choose a hard disk drive. If there are multiple hard disks, you can judge according to the size of the hard disk. If the two hard disks are exactly the same, they are judged according to the order of the IDE interface and the master and slave disks. In front, from the back. Then the program asks you to select the partition and select the system partition to be backed up.

In the dialog box that appears, first select the disk partition where you want to save the image file (the remaining space of this partition should be larger than the used space of the system partition), and name the image file, then click “Save” (Save) button. Next, the Compressed Image File dialog box will appear. You can select options such as No (no compression), Fast (low compression ratio, faster), High (high compression ratio, slower speed), etc., depending on the machine configuration. After selecting “Yes” in the confirmation dialog, the image file of the system partition is created.

(2) Restoring the system partition

Making the image file of the system partition is equivalent to making a complete backup of the system. Once the system has problems again, just remove the system from the image file. It will be fine to recover.

Click the “Local→Partition→From Image” menu command in the Ghost main interface, and then in the image file dialog box that appears, browse the location of the image file, and select it. Click the “Open” button to import it.

Next, the program asks to select the target drive and partition for image file recovery. Be sure to select the correct one. If there is an error, all the data in the target partition will be overwritten. After selecting it, select “Yes”Start recovery Partition, after the recovery work is finished, restart the computer, and the system partition is restored to its original health state.
