Cleverly fill the video loopholes, let the computer no longer die

Many people have the experience that when you click on a large AVI type video file in Windows Explorer, Windows will appear suspended, and "Process" will be viewed in "Windows Task Manager". The tab will also find that the CPU usage of the Explorer.exe process is 100%, and this process will persist for a long time, sometimes forced to shut down to solve.

In fact, this problem is caused by the vulnerability of Windows itself. When clicking a large AVI file in Windows Explorer, Windows will scan the file and try to query the index of the file. If there is no index information in the file, Windows performs a loop to check all parts of the file for indexing. When the AVI file is large, it takes a long time for Windows to scan the entire file. In this way, the CPU usage of the Explorer.exe process will reach 100%.

As the saying goes: The bell is still ringing. Since this is caused by the vulnerability of Windows itself, you should solve this problem by installing the Windows patch and downloading and installing the latest Windows patch.

If you don't want to update the system patch or because you can't update the patch in other situations, you can open the "My Computer" window, find the file to save the video file, right click and click the folder, the shortcut pops up. Select "Properties" in the menu, in the "Properties dialog box", under the "General" tab, click the "Advanced" button (see Figure 1), in the "Advanced Properties" dialog that opens, remove "for fast Search, allow the indexing service to compile the index of this folder" option (see Figure 2).

In addition to the above methods, you can also Enter the "regsvr32 /U shmedia.dll" command in the "Run" dialog box to log out the video preview function of the system to solve the system suspended animation problem.
