Email original information is easy to check

There are many friends who use the mail client program such as Foxmail to send and receive emails. I don't know if you pay attention to the "original information" of the email. It records in detail the life of the mail, what information is included in it, what is the use? This article will be announced for you one by one.

Start the Foxmail program, right click on the received email, and click on the "Original Information" item in the pop-up shortcut menu to view the "original information" of the email. The "header information" in "original information" is the most important part because it contains almost all the life information of the mail (Figure 1).

looked crowded on the English map, readers feel a little dizzy is not, could not find direction? Relax, let the author help clear the clues, look at the "head information" in this paragraph.

Tip: The "header information" of each email may be different. For example, the part beginning with "X" is the manufacturer's customized information. As shown in the figure above, "X-Kaspersky" indicates The email was tested by anti-virus software Kaspersky. But the format of the most basic information is the same, the reader will know.
1. The mail transmission process is fully clear

Generally speaking, an email is not directly transmitted from the sender's computer to the recipient's computer. After the user sends the mail, the mail is first transmitted to a specific mail server, which sends the mail to the recipient's mail server according to the mail sending address, and finally the recipient receives the mail from the mail server. When a message passes through each server, its message header is automatically added to the server information.

Since the "Received" information is automatically added by the server, the order of the mail passing through the server is from bottom to top, that is, from the last one, "Received" information analysis, we can know the correct transfer process. As you can see from the previous picture, the message is first sent to the mail server named "delivery.pens.microsoft.com", and the server sends the message to the mail server named "mc6-f8.hotmail.com". The end user can receive mail from this server.

In addition, the process information of the mail transmission also includes information such as the time of arrival at the server and the mail system used by the server. If someone emails you a malicious program such as Trojans and viruses, the message of the mail transmission process is the evidence.

2. Block the source of spam

Spam will always try to hide its real email address, only see a few Chinese characters when viewing its address information, but no email address (figure 2). However, some spam emails are most likely to be authentic in order to get a response from the user. So by finding the reply address for this message and blacklisting it, you can reject this type of spam. In the "Original Information", the "Return-Path" or "Reply-To" item is followed by the reply address of the mail. As shown in Figure 3, "[email protected]" is the spam sending address.

Tip: This method is only suitable for spam messages that you want to get a reply. There are a lot of spam messages that you don't want to get a reply. Setting the wrong reply address or not setting the reply address will invalidate the method.

3. Tracking the address of spam "accomplice"

After knowing the process of sending mail, you can easily get the IP address of the spam server. But spammers often use spam-sending tools to spoof sender addresses, "Received" and "Message-ID" so that we can't accurately grasp the address of spam. Although other information can be forged, the last "Received" information is automatically added by the mail server, which means that a "Received" message cannot be forged. We can get the IP address of the spam accomplice through the last "Received" message and block it to block spam. As shown in Figure 1, "207.46.248.67" can be considered as an accurate IP address, which can be blocked to prevent spam from the server.

4. Use "Original Information" to Prevent Viruses

Sometimes you will receive unfamiliar mail, but you can't judge whether the mail has a virus. What should I do? In fact, just click the "All" button in the "Original Information" window, and the entire display box will display the entire contents of the email in text form. You can know the sender, content, and source code of the message without worrying about getting infected.

5. Unsubscribe from unwanted mail

When I was in contact with the Internet, I like to use email to subscribe to some news and other things. Now I find that many of the subscription information is no longer needed. I want to unsubscribe from the information but forget the subscription address. In fact, in the "header information", you can find the address of the website that subscribes to the mail, as shown in Figure 1 "From:"Microsoft"".

Tip: In fact, you can also view email messages in Outlook Express and Outlook. The steps are similar, so I won't explain them in detail here.
