Dat file open mode, what is the dat file open?

There is a VCD format that is DAT so it can be viewed using a normal player. Some DATs are also system files.

DAT is not a standard file. Many software use this extension, but the file has different meanings. For example, VCD files are .DAT, and many data analysis software also uses this extension to save data. So this depends on the specific software situation.

The dat file can be a vcd file, so open it with the player. But many times it is a data file, then don't open it, so as not to destroy the data.

In general vcd, then the size of this DAT is relatively large, the maximum can be more than 500 M (of course there are many very small VCD, depending on the length of the VCD movie). However, the data format is generally small, and is common in a few hundred K or a few M. And VCDs are movies, mostly in an MPEGAV folder or in a separate folder. Data files are usually in software or game folders.

Some data files for some software are also .dat extensions. These files cannot be opened directly or converted to text files.

I don't know where your DAT files are used. VCD file extensions are also DAT, some data files are also DAT, some of them are text format, some are not, what files do you want to open? I don't know if the file format is useless.

To open a file, you must first know its internal format, not its extension. The extension is just an internal format prompt.

First of all: text files and binary files are different. For text files, each byte (or every few bytes) has the same meaning. You only need to read one byte at a time. OK; for binary files, there may be 4 bytes to save an integer, then 4 bytes to save a float, etc. …… so to open the binary you need to understand it file format.

To know the file format, you can open a binary file with a hex editor and guess its format.
