Win8 directional computing is closer to the dedicated device gap

The next generation of Windows computers is likely to bring a Direct Computing Experience, in addition to being a standard PC for users, it will also serve as a special Equipment for use.

In Microsoft's future plans, there is a patent for "Directed Computing Experience" which describes: Every Windows platform can switch to a special operating mode that is different from the normal operating mode. Implementing it only requires a special button to activate the conversion process of the computer device.

According to Microsoft, a Windows computer can be easily converted to media playback devices, personal information management devices, alarm clocks, calculators, media centers, video recorders, and music players.

When playing a media file or recording a video, the Windows system can start up the part of the playback and recording without having to start all the components. In this case, only a part of the components, the startup speed of the computer will be greatly improved, and the preparation of these special function requirements can be completed within 10 seconds.

When the computer is transferred to a certain orientation experience state, the entire system will enter the restricted (or sandbox) mode at the same time, and the available operation options are less than the normal state, such as keyboard operation, file access. Will be limited to the scope of the development.

These things seem attractive, but Microsoft has not officially confirmed that the directional computing experience will be embedded in the next Windows operating system, Windows 8.

However, this is a technology worthy of Microsoft's in-depth discussion, especially in the face of Apple's product competition like the iPad.

The directional computing experience technology enables Windows 8 tablets to launch in seconds and be used as an e-book, media player or surf tool. And portable devices that were originally designed for media playback without full PC functionality can also be paired with Windows 8 with the help of direct computing experience technology, enabling both portable playback and full functionality.

That is to say, it can provide users with a simple device for users to browse and edit documents, media play, and browse the Internet. It can be restarted to become a standard PC device when needed, providing users with complete operating system functions.

In a computer system, the general process of the directional computing experience is: first, there is a special device to receive notifications of these activation-oriented experiences, then start or wake up the computer, and then the operating system goes into the directional experience mode. At the same time, launch some specific applications to meet the needs of the targeted experience, "This is described in Microsoft's patent document," where the entire system will enter the sandbox when the user controls it into the directed experience mode while the system is running. Modes, all kinds of unnecessary functions are turned off, and only those functions that meet the experience requirements are retained. ”
