Win10/Win8.1/Win7 comprehensive performance evaluation big secret (4): storage performance

In this test, the tester mainly evaluated the performance of Win10 and Win8.1 under the support of SSD. Today's computers are equipped with SSD solid state drives, and the speed has been greatly improved. Before the solid state drive, the shortcoming of the computer speed has been the read and write speed of the mechanical hard disk.

4. Storage Performance

In this type of setup, tests were performed using CrystalDiskMark 5.0.2. The tester used a Samsung Samsung SM951 256GB NVMe SSD solid state drive connected to the test machine ASRock Asrock. Ultra M.2 interface for the Z97 Extreme 6 motherboard. It should be noted that Win7 does not support the Samsung SSD, so the following test Windows7 platform does not participate.

1, Sequential Q32T1

In the read and write performance of this test, Windows10 write performance is slightly superior, read performance is slightly inferior to Windows 8.1, overall not Up and down.

2, 4K Q32T1

From the test results, Win10 and Win8.1 write performance is the same, Win10 read performance is also slightly worse than Win8.1.

3, Sequential

In this test, Win10's read and write performance is slightly better than Win8.1, but it is not obvious.

4,4K

The test results reflect that Win10 has a slightly better read capability, while write capability is significantly lower than Win8.1.

From the above results, in general, Win10 and Win8.1 have no significant gap in the read and write performance of SSDs, which is basically the same. Therefore, such performance is not currently the main advantage of Win10, and further optimization may be needed in the future.
