Win8.1 weight loss big battle: WinSxS folder how to slim down

Computer shop news: Just, we shared how to use the DISM management tool to view the actual size of the Win8.1 WinSxS folder. For the WinSxS folder, almost every Windows enthusiast recognizes its importance and understands the principle of “delete risk”. But this is not absolute.

For example, just edited the WinSxS folder redundancy update under the Win8.1 platform, the result is that the oversized folder shows 6.75G size and volume “amazing” (see the figure below). Fortunately, under the latest Win8.1 Update platform, we can use the DISM management tool to safely delete the WinSxS folder redundancy update files, saving hundreds of megabytes and more than 1G disk size.

Below, the IT home also organizes the corresponding security cleanup steps for Win8.1 users. For details, refer to the following ——

1. For example, in Win8 .1 Update platform, log in to the traditional desktop, right click on the start button, select the command prompt (admin);

2, enter the security cleanup command in the open command prompt:

Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

//This command supports update components of earlier versions (supports Win8.1 RTM, Win8.1 Update platform)

Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase

//Note: After completing this command, you will not be able to uninstall the installed update, it will not affect the installation and uninstallation of subsequent updates (Win8 is not supported) .1 Update platform, cautious operation)

3. After waiting for a while, we enter the WinSxS folder query command again:

Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /AnalyzeComponentStore

//Query the actual size of the current WinSxS folder

Compared to the first time, the current WinSxS folder is obviously slimming, from The original 6.75G was reduced to 6G, and the weight loss was 0.75G. Refer to the figure above.
