WP8.1 preview version penetration rate has reached 3.1%

Computer Store News: Microsoft released Windows Phone 8.1 last week through the Developer Preview project. According to the latest data released by AdDuplex in April, 3.1% of Windows Phone devices have been upgraded to install WP8.1 Developer Preview.

Considering the current installation of the WP8.1 preview, this number is still very good. To use the WP8.1 preview, you must first have a WP8 smartphone and then join the Microsoft Developer Preview project. Users are currently unable to purchase the new WP8.1 Nokia Lumia 630 and Lumia 930. The WP8.1 update has not been pushed to ordinary users through OTA, and users must manually install it.

AdDuplex estimated that the number of WP7.x and Windows Phone 8 devices was 50 million in January, so a 3.1% share means that about 1.5 million devices have been upgraded to use the WP8.1 preview.

In addition, WP8 market share is 78%, WP7.x is 18.9%. Considering that some WP7.x users' contracts will expire later this year, the share of WP7.x will drop significantly.
