Microsoft joins FIDO Alliance

Computer Store News: The FIDO Alliance is an organization that seeks to find new encryption standards. Their goal is to eliminate the most common passwords on the Internet today. Most people use passwords to protect their emails, smartphones, and computers. However, password security is low, and it is easy to be guessed and intercepted.

The FIDO Alliance hopes to use more high-encryption security devices and browser plug-ins to bring more secure Internet access and computer security. Currently, its members include Lenovo, MasterCard, Infineon and other vendors. It is also announced today to join this organization.

After joining FIDO, Microsoft will be able to participate in the development of various standardized authentication technologies, such as biometrics, to improve security and interoperability.

FIDO also plans to develop new certification solutions for iOS, Android, Windows Phone and tablet devices.
