Intention to let Windows 8.1 support Miracast wireless display technology

Computer Store News: Miracast wireless display technology requires a Miracast-certified source device and display device. This week, the guys at Microsoft let everyone know that the details of Windows 8.1 have not been fully disclosed, and one of them is the support for the Miracast wireless display technology standard. Google has deployed Miracast support on Android 4.2, and Microsoft will support every PC that can be upgraded to Windows 8.1.

Microsoft has made it clear that they intend to support and make Windows 8.1 PCs work in Source Devices mode. But the final realization depends on the manufacturer himself. At this point, we don't know if the device manufacturers will seek approval for the WiFi Alliance for their display devices. The WiFi Alliance maintains a list of official source devices and display devices, including HTC One, Samsung Galaxy S4, many smart TVs and dedicated Miracast receivers. I believe that with the efforts of manufacturers such as Google and Microsoft, this list will continue to grow. Future pairing of Win8.1 devices may also be as simple as connecting Bluetooth or NFC.
