Windows Server 2012 Improves Virtual Machine Imports Simpler and Faster

Windows Server 2012 improves the import process for virtual machines. This new process helps resolve configuration issues that can cause virtual machine import failures. Improvements to virtual machine import work in Windows Server 2012 also improve the stability of importing virtual machines into other Hyper-V hosts. The new wizard can detect and fix possible problems, such as hardware or file differences, which can occur after moving a virtual machine to another host. The Import Wizard can detect and fix more than 40 different types of incompatibility issues. As a precaution, the new wizard can also create a temporary copy of the virtual machine configuration file. When you import a virtual machine to another host in Windows Server 2008 R2, you first need to export it. To export a virtual machine, you first need to turn it off. This requires the administrator to schedule a shutdown plan before exporting the virtual machine. Now by using Windows Server 2012, you can simply copy the virtual machine's files to the new host manually, then on the new Windows Server 2012 host, just run the Import Virtual Machine wizard and select the newly copied file. Now! The import job completed successfully. In short, the Windows Server 2012 Import Wizard is a simpler and better way to import or copy virtual machines between Hyper-V hosts.
