system. However, in actual use, Ghost 8.3 is only stuck at the "support" level, and can not achieve perfect compatibility. This is reflected in the fact that some users use Ghost 8.3 to back up Windows Vista, but they often report errors when restoring the system.

The author has also been "unable The trouble of "perfect backup", after seeing this method, I tried it myself, but the result was that the system could not be started normally.
According to the method mentioned above, I run the command prompt as the administrator, and then run three commands at a time in the command prompt window. When the system prompts "operation is successful" (Figure 1) .

After completing the above work, I put Ghost 8.3 into the hard disk
, then restart the computer, and immediately "Perfect Ghost Vista
".

When the dual system boot menu option appears, I press the Enter key (the system defaults to Windows Vista), but I am told the "E:\\Windows\\System 32\\Winload.exe" file. Damaged, can't start normally!

Unfortunately, I was only thinking about how to save the new system I just made. There are no screenshots to share with you. However, I can share with you how I recovered (can not start normally).

1. Trying to copy the file with the same name overwrite

The system prompt message is very clear, the file "E:\\Windows\\System32\\Winload.exe" is damaged, so I tried to use other Computer
(Windows Vista) copy the same name file over the past, but encountered a "disk not full or write protection" prompt message that everyone is familiar with.

Tip:

The "disk not full or write protection" message here is actually due to the "permissions" function in Windows Vista system, and "write protection" is not available. Any substantial association.

2. System Repair

After failing to overwrite the file with the same name, I have to turn to the installation CD for repair. The reason why I want to share this process with you is mainly to tell everyone that they need to pay attention to the situation.

My Windows Vista
installation file on HDD
is copied from the CD, but if you run the installation file directly, the system will not appear " The "Repair" option will only appear if the "System Repair" option is available through the installation CD.

Need to be especially reminded that after the system is repaired, there will be three options in the boot menu (see Figure 2). At this point, the user needs to select the menu below by the arrow keys, and then press the Enter key to enter the system smoothly.

Postscript:

Why is this happening? The answer to the perfunctory is that "Ghost is not compatible with Vista." However, according to the author, the real reason should be that the system file was modified due to the "BCDEdit" command, causing the system to fail to start properly.
