Start Installation (Windows XP sp2)

Download the Boot Camp software on the official website, you can split some hard disk space to install WinXP without affecting Mac OS, and make it out. The driver CD required for Windows installation.

Note:

The official AppleCare warranty does not support the failures after installing Boot Camp, and does not answer the installation problems. This is the most necessary psychological preparation. . However, Boot Camp is the official release software, although it is "beta", it can be taken with peace of mind. Using Boot Camp to install the Windows operating system will not cause unrecoverable effects on the currently used Mac OS.

Impact:

1. Waste some hard disk space - Software for WinXP installation and use in xp environment.

2. There will be two operating systems in the computer -- you can use it at boot time (press and hold the Option key when booting, you can enter the selection interface).

3. Can't tell the difference between MacBook and NoteBook –- Just in appearance is more atmospheric than ordinary Notebook.

Installation Process:

1. Download and install Boot Camp software

2. Use Boot Camp to burn drive CDs and split hard drives

3.Reboot after putting the WinXP installation CD

4.Install Windows XP

5.Install the driver

6. Complete the installation.

Start the installation:

Step 1. Install Boot Camp (in Mac OS X)

1. Go to the official download page and <;Boot_Camp_Assistant-Installer_Beta.dmg”Download to Mac. (about 83MB)

2. Double-click the .dmg file you just downloaded, unpack and execute the BootCampAssistant.pkg installation file inside.

3. Open the Finder and go to the "Applications -> Tools" program to find the Boot Camp Assistant program and click to execute it.

4. According to the installation wizard, click Next to split this location of the Windows partition.

Hard disk partition description: Boot_Camp default Windows partition is 5G, you can adjust the partition size. The partition larger than 32G can't use FAT partition format. If you need to use FAT format WINDOWS partition, you can only limit the partition size to Within 32G.

5. The driver needs to be burned after the partition is completed.

Driver Burning Instructions: The Boot_Camp Wizard will automatically create a driver package for Windows based on the current MacBook hardware configuration. This process requires a blank disc to burn it down. 380MB, ordinary CD can accommodate.

For the convenience of description, the CD is temporarily named: MacBook For Windows Drivers

Step 2. Install the Windows series operating system (the last step of the Boot Camp installation wizard) )

1. After completing the burning, you can install Windows XP/Vista. The Windows version here has restrictions. The details are as follows:

a. CD information: Yes The recognized operating system CD must contain boot information, otherwise the Boot Camp Setup Wizard will not recognize the disc correctly.

b. Operating system version: The version of the operating system that can be installed includes: Windows XP Home Edition/Windows XP SP2 Professional /Windows Vista Home Premium/Windows Vista Home Basic/Windows Vista EnterPrise

The reason for using these versions of the operating system is because of the limitations of the driver CD created by Boot Camp. Other operating systems can be installed and the corresponding hardware drivers cannot be obtained.

C. CD content requirements: If you use the CD-ROM with the DOS environment and the tool's boot menu, you can't use it. The reason is: MacBook for virtual DOS environment, can't load the following file correctly: Himem.sys /Command.exe/smartdrv.exe/config.sys

For the above reasons, the MacBook keyboard cannot be used in a DOS environment.

So, once you choose to boot to DOS, the rest of the operation can only be forced to power down.

2. Preparing to install Windows operating system

(The following operations are all based on installing Windows XP sp2 Professional)

Note: The optical drive used in MacBook is inhaled. Therefore, before the operating system has been installed, it is not possible to opt out of the CD. Therefore, you must first prepare the Windows XP installation CD. Once you find the CD error, you want to re-install a disk for installation. It is unlikely, the practice proves: either, install the operating system that is being installed, and then use the CD-ROM exit command under Windows to eject the CD; or, cut off the power, and then hold Option and simultaneously during the boot process. Left mouse button to force the disc to pop up.

3. Put the correct installation CD and start installing Windows

a. Since the MacBook does not load SmartDrv.exe correctly when starting the Windows Installer, the entire installation process will probably continue. 40-60 minutes or so.

b. During the installation process, for the choice of the installation disk, here to note, to choose C:, and pay attention to the size of the disk, whether it is the same size as the disk allocated in the Boot Camp wizard.

c. If the allocated disk space is larger than 32GB, during the installation process, you can only select NTFS for the disk formatting process. If FAT32 is selected, the installer cannot continue and the MacBook will crash. status.

Step 3: Enter the Windows operating system and install the MacBook driver.

Go to Windows and insert the “MacBook For Windows Drivers”

CD to perform the driver installation.

The entire installation process is fully automated and requires no human intervention. Before starting the installation, you need to remove the external USB mouse in order to correctly identify the MacBook's keyboard.

After the driver installation is complete, install the application software in order. At this point, the entire Windows XP sp2 installation is complete.

System Selection:

During the startup of the MacBook, hold down the Option key to enter the Mac OS X and Windows selection interface.
