In many cases, we need to compare 2 files or folders. In the Windows XP installation CD, we provide a comparison function module. With its help, users can easily access files or files. Clips are compared. However, this feature is not installed by default when installing Windows. It needs to be installed separately before it can be used. First, compare folders 1. After launching the "Windiff.exe" program, select "File" * "Compare Directories..." to open the "Select DirectorIEs" dialog box (as shown in Figure 1). ---- 2. In the "Dir 1" text input box, enter the path to the first folder, the path to the second folder in the "Dir 2" text input box; if you need to compare the subfolders, you must also select "Include" SubdirectorIEs" checkbox, then click the "OK" button. ---- 3. After returning to the main interface, the files in the 2 folders, including the hidden system attributes and hidden attributes, are displayed in the form of a list in the window (as shown in Figure 2). You can view different content by clicking the different options provided in the “Options” menu. The main options are as follows. "Show Identical Files" option Displays files with the same file name and file contents in two folders. If the file names and file contents are identical in the two folders, the "identical" mark is displayed after the file name. The "Show Different Files" option displays files with the same file name and different contents in the two folders, and displays the "different" mark after the file. The Show Left-Only Files option displays files that are unique to the first folder. The Show Right-Only Files option displays files that are unique to the second folder. ---- Select all the above 4 options, all the files in the 2 folders will be displayed. If the "Ignore Blanks" option is also selected, the system ignores the spaces in the content when comparing files, otherwise the two files with only one space will be treated as files with different contents. Second, the file operation ---- 1. Selecting and editing a file ---- In the file list window of the main interface of the comparison program, click a file name to select it. Click the "Expand" button to switch to the window displaying the contents of the file, view the contents of the file in text mode, and edit and modify the file (see the "Comparing Files" section below). Then click the "Outline" button to switch back to the file list window. ---- 2. Mark file---- After selecting a file, select the "Mark"* "Mark File" command to mark the file; select "Mark" * "Hide Marked Files" to hide the marked file in the window. Get up; select "Mark" * "Toggle Mark State" to convert both marked and unmarked files like Windows' reverse selection. ---- 3. Save File List ---- Select “File”* “Save File List...” to save the current file list in text mode. Copy files ---- Select "File" * "Copy Files..." to copy files of different existence methods. In the "Copy to directory" text box in the "Copy Files" dialog box, enter the destination folder where the copied files are saved, and then select whether to copy the first folder or the files in the second folder in the "Copy from" column. Also select the appropriate option in the "Include" section and click the "OK" button. Third, compare documents ---- 1. Select "File" * "Compare Files...", open the "Select First File" dialog (as shown in Figure 4), select the first file to be compared, then click the "Open" button to open "Select" In the Second File dialog, select the second file and press the Open button to return to the main interface of the comparison program. 2. In the main interface of the comparison program, the two file names to be compared are displayed side by side. Click the “Expand” button to switch to the file content display window (as shown in Figure 5), and select “Expand”* “Left File Only” to display The complete content of the first file; select "Expand" * "Right File Only" to display the complete contents of the second file; select "Expand" * "Both Files" to display the complete contents of 2 files at the same time. The above three display modes are distinguished by text line units. The lines with the same content in the two files are displayed normally, and the lines with different contents are displayed in different background colors, wherein the red background color indicates the content of the first file, yellow The background color indicates the content of the second file. In addition, if you select "Expand" * "Left Line Numbers", you can display the line number of the first file in the window, select "Expand" * "Right Line Numbers", display the line number of the second file, so 2 The content of which line in the file is different is clear at a glance. If both files are very long, you can select “VIEw”* “Picture”, which will display a position indicator on the left side of the window. You can know how many differences between the two files are indicated by the indicator bars of different colors on the indicator. And where are the locations of their rows. 3. Select "Edit" * "Edit Left File", you can edit the contents of the first file with the specified program editing; similarly, select "Edit" * "Edit Right File", you can edit and modify the contents of the second file; Select "Edit" * "Edit Composite File" to merge 2 files into 1 file (note: in the merged file, the same content in the 2 original files only appears once), then you can be relevant Make changes in the editing program.
