Tips for sharing: Easily send and receive faxes in Win XP

  
        There is a fax function in Windows XP system, which makes it easy to send and receive faxes, so you don't have to buy a fax machine. Let's take a look at this feature in detail.

First, install the fax component

To send a fax in Windows XP, first of all we have a fax function has Modem. Windows XP does not have fax installed when it is installed by default, so we have to install the fax component for the system.

Go to the Control Panel and double-click the "Printers and Faxes" icon. The "Printers and Faxes" window will pop up. Right-click in the blank space of the window and select the Set Fax command. The system will start configuring the components. After that, insert the Windows XP installation CD as prompted, and the system will automatically install the fax component. After the installation is complete, we can see that there is a "Fax" icon in the "Printers and Faxes" window.

Second, configure the Fax Properties

double-click the "Fax" icon, open the "Fax Configuration Wizard" dialog box, click "Next" to enter "Sender Information" box. Here we need to set the sender information, such as name, fax number, office phone number, address and so on. The sender's name and fax number must be filled in. The fax number is the telephone landline number to which the modem is connected.

After filling in, click “Next” to enter the “Select Fax Send or Receive Device” dialog box. In the "Select Fax Device" column of the dialog box, select your Modem, check the "Allow Send" and "Allow Receive" check boxes below, and click the answer mode as needed. If you select "Auto Answer" ", we also need to set the number of phone rings before answering. After setting, click Next to enter the phone number displayed when sending the fax file in the “TSID” and “CSID” text boxes that appear, which is convenient for the other party's fax machine to recognize.

When finished, click “Next” to open the “Routing Options” dialog box, where we will set the received fax file. If you want to print out the received fax file, check the "Print to" checkbox here and select the printer name in the list of subsequent fax machines. If you want to save a copy of the received fax file on your computer, you also need to check the "Save copy to folder" option and then select a folder to save the fax file via "Browse". The fax attribute has been configured successfully. Click Next. In the Complete Fax Configuration dialog box, click Finish.

Third, send a fax

above items are set, there will be "Fax Console" screen. If you want to use it to send a fax, you can use a variety of text editing tools (such as Word) to compose the fax content, write the fax content and click the "File /Print" command in the menu bar, in the print settings window Select "Fax" in the "Name" item and click "OK". Then the “Fax Send Wizard” dialog box will pop up, enter the recipient's name here, select “People's Republic of China 86” in the “Location” item, enter the recipient's fax number in the “Fax Number” item, if it is a foreign fax Machine, then add a long distance area code before the fax number. Check "Use Dialing Rules" and click the "Dialing Rules" button on the right to make some necessary settings in the "Dialing Rules" dialog box.

If we want to send the fax file to multiple people at the same time, you need to enter the relevant information of each recipient in the above items and click the "Add" button to display the recipient's information. Add to the send list.

After setting, click “Next” to enter the “Prepare Home” dialog box. Here you can select the home page template, type the subject of the fax file in the subject line and fill in the note information as needed (this information will be automatically added to the first page of the fax file). Click "Next" all the way, and finally click the "Finish" button to send the fax file out.

when receiving faxes sent by fax, if your computer is online, Windows XP will automatically start receiving the fax file tool. When finished, an icon for receiving a new fax file will appear in the system tray, and the fax file will be saved in the format of the graphic file in the folder we set up.

We can view it in the “Fax Console”, or you can browse the fax file directly through some drawing tools.
