Simple, beautiful, use the search function in Windows

        I think everyone's search function for Windows will not be unfamiliar. Through it, we can quickly find the resources we need on our computer. But using live and good Windows search features is very useful to us.

1. Quickly open the search window

In general, when we want to search for files under a certain folder, click “Start” → “Search” → “File or File” Folder, and then type the starting search folder in the search project, very troublesome. In fact, recently I used Windows Me and found that when we are in the Explorer and enter a folder, press the Win+F key (the Win key is the one that is on the sides of the keyboard with the US Microsoft Windows banner). The two keys, one at a time, can quickly open the search window, but the current folder does not automatically appear in the search box. However, at this time, please first press the folder button on the toolbar, select a folder, and then press the "Search" button, how, the folder just selected has become the starting search folder (Figure 1).
2. quickly search the contents of the specified location

we search window in Windows 98, you can start to get a search folder through the "Browse" button in Windows Me, this one does not feature Was canceled, but it is better hidden and not easy to be discovered. At any time, press the Win+F key to bring up the “Search” window. The default search range is all the local hard disks and partitions. As long as we select the “Browse” item in the search range drop-down box (Figure 2), it can be opened. The standard "Browse Folder" window (Figure 3), after selecting the folder in this window, press the "OK" button to use the selected folder as the starting search folder.

3. Quickly change file attributes

batch change file attributes in Windows can not under DOS
so simple, because Windows Explorer does not support Wildcard operations, if we want to change the properties of a batch of files, it is more difficult. In fact, we can also use the search function to achieve, first fill in the file name (support wildcards), then click the "search" button, and finally select them all, right-click, select "properties", then you The thing to do is to choose not to choose the corresponding attribute (Figure 4), you can do it yourself!

4. Quickly delete junk files on the machine

The computer time is long, and these junk files on the hard disk, such as "*.bak", "*.tmp", etc. Not only is it scattered but also scattered around the hard disk, it is inconvenient to delete by hand. In fact, they can be quickly deleted through the system's "search" function. To do this, click on the "Start/Search/Files or Folders..." menu (or press the Win key) and in the "Search" dialog, enter the search name as "*.bak;*.tmp" (if Want to delete multiple types of files, can be listed separately, separated by a semicolon), the search scope is "drive" (this is the default setting in Windows Me, for all local hard drives and partitions) and "contains subfolders", then single Click "Search Now" and when finished, the search results will be listed in the list box at the bottom of the dialog. Press Ctrl+A to select all files, right click and select “Delete” from the menu to delete all junk files. (As shown in Figure 5, press Shift+Del to delete it completely.) If you are in trouble next time, you can also store the search results on the desktop. You can double-click it next time, which is very convenient.

5. Quickly search for "lost" files

We all know that it has been added to the Start menu in Winows Me. A search function for searching for a specified file or computer. In general, we use it to search for files. First fill in the file name (support wildcards), select the scope of the search, and search. However, if we don't know the file name of the file, but only know a part of it, how to search? (This usually happens in an article that is written. It is convenient when you name it. After a few days, you can't remember it.) In fact, there is a text function in the Windows Me search function, just fill in the text in it. Remember a few words or a sentence, then fill in *.* as the file name, and then click the search button to search for the file you want very accurately and conveniently. This time you can rename the folder Rename into an easy memory. The name, don't forget it again this time!

6. instant backup file

day use of computers will inevitably have to always backup file (which I think had lost computer data user or attest), but if we compare daily workload Large, and the generated files are not in the same folder, so you must copy the files into the corresponding folder after backing up, create a folder with the same name for them, and copy it to the backup folder. very troublesome. In fact, I used the Windows Me search function to think of a very good way to automatically back up the day's files.
(1) Click “Start” → “Search” (or directly press Win+F), and click “Search Options” → “Date” to adjust the date before and after the date to the date of the day, such as the author Adjusted to January 30, 2001 and January 30, 2001, only files modified on January 30, 2001 will be searched, setting the search area to "My Computer", ie (all floppy disks, Hard disk, CD and network drive can be searched), click the "Search Now" button, then Windows will search all the files modified on the day and put them in the window;

(2) Installation WinZip software, the way to determine;

(3) Right-click the search file, and the shortcut menu, select "Add to Zip" command (FIG. 6);

< Br>

(4) Enter the file name in the pop-up window and select the “Save fullpath Info” option (see the attached figure in Figure 7). If necessary, you can also click the “PassWord” button to set the password, and finally click “ Add button, a compressed file with folder information is finished A.

(5) To restore these backup files, just copy the ZIP file to the root directory of a disk, select it, right click and select the "Extract to" command. WinZip will release the files in the compressed package along with the folder, that is, it will release the compressed file to the corresponding folder, but since it is a backup file, it is very likely that a pop-up window will pop up to ask if you overwrite the original. The file, generally select "Yes to All".
