The Win XP Auto Recovery System Repair Disk

The ASR (Automatic Recovery System) function in Windows XP makes it easy to back up the system. However, when restoring the ASR image file, you must provide the recovery floppy disk you created before you can complete all operations. In other words, if you do not have a floppy drive installed on your computer, you will not be able to use this service. However, we can first make the "ASR Repair Disk". After installing the floppy drive, you can use this repair disk to restore the image file. But how do you make an "ASR repair disk" without a floppy disk drive? You can do this by doing the following:

Click "Start → All Programs → Accessories → System Tools → Backup" in Windows XP, and click "Automatic System Recovery Wizard" in the "Welcome" tab. Button to start the Automatic System Recovery Preparation Wizard. According to the prompt, type the name and save path of the image file in the text box under "Backup media or file name" to make the image file.

Open the Explorer, expand the "\\%windir%\ epair" folder (for example: C:\\Windows\ epair), copy the two files asr.sif and asrpnp.sif to the floppy drive installed. In the computer, if it is a LAN user, just copy the two files to the "Shared Folder" of Windows XP, and then copy the two files to the floppy disk on the computer where the floppy drive is installed.
