FlashGet auto-categorizes downloaded files

Normally, after we download the software such as Internet Express, it is often placed in the same folder. Even if you want to sort them, you can manually drag them to different categories in the directory tree of the Internet Express, and it is not convenient when you ask whether to move the downloaded files at the same time.

Is there any way to achieve automatic classification of downloaded data? It's not hard to do this with the "download rules" of the Internet Express - this feature is often overlooked by many friends. Let's take a look at how to get FlashGet to automatically place the downloaded movie into the Movie folder.

File Archive

File Name: FlashGet
File Version: V1.5
Application Platform: Win9X /ME /NT /2000 /WinXP
Software Nature: Shareware
Software size: 1632 Kb

First, change the location corresponding to the category

In the "Downloaded" item of the Internet Express, the "Software" and "Game" have been set by default. Sub-categories such as "movie", but their default folders are located under C:\\Downloads\\, but we usually don't put the downloaded things on the C drive, so we need to modify them - as I put them in F :\\Down, so right click on the "Movies" category under "Downloaded", select the "Properties" menu item, then enter the category name in the dialog box, and fill in the storage location "F:\\Down" under "Default Directory" \\movie", click OK. (shown in Figure 1)

Tip: If the folder to be filled does not exist, click the Browse button and click in the "Folder Selection" dialog box. "New Folder" is created.
Second, set the download rules

1. Click the "Tools → Download Rules" item in the main menu, click the "New" button in the "Download Rules" dialog box, open the "Edit Download Rules" dialog box , check "When the file extension matches a specific string", and then check the "Move to the specified category" item.

2. Click the "When the file extension matches a specific string" button under "Rules Description", fill in the extension of the movie file in the pop-up dialog box (commonly there are .AVI/.WMV/.ASF/.MPEG/.DAT/.RM/.MOV), note that the entries are separated by a semicolon. Fill out and click the "OK" button. (2)

Note: be sure to add English small dot before completing the extension of each extension.

3. Click the "Move to {Movie} category" button, select the folder in the movie category (such as F:\\down\\movie) set in the previous section, and click "OK".

4. Finally enter the rule name and click "OK".

In this way, the rules for the classification of movies are created. The files downloaded later will be automatically moved to the specified folder after the download as long as the extension meets the above conditions.

Tip: If you want to store different movies with different extensions in different folders, you should set the download rules for it separately.
