Jump List Regression Win10 Preview Edition 10041 Start Menu

Computer Store News: When Microsoft announced Windows 10 last year, it also had a start menu that made everyone happy. The start menu at the time was built using DirectUI technology, but this changed when Windows 10 Technology Preview 2 was released. In January of this year, Microsoft unveiled a new start menu, which was rewritten in XAML. However, it is clear that the new start menu is very different from the Insider members. Many users complain that the new start menu lacks almost all the advantages of the old start menu.

Microsoft has said many times that features such as adjusting the start menu size, drag and drop applications, and using Jump Lists will eventually be implemented. The drag and drop application feature has now officially returned in Build 10041, but there are still no signs of Jump Lists or adjustments to the start menu size feature. However, users started to open the early code of the new Jump Lists function in Build 10041, and its running effect can meet user expectations.

This feature runs on all programs that support Windows 8.x and Windows 7 Jump Lists, so developers don't need to rewrite their software to adapt to Jump Lists. Not only that, the Jump List is also compatible with Modern applications such as Music and Video. Considering that this is still early code, its UI is still under development. Jump Lists is turned off by default in Build 10041, because the current state of the feature is quite unstable, and Microsoft is clearly optimizing it.

If a friend tries to jump to the list in the new start menu, you need to follow these steps:

Open regedit.exe (Win+R)

Enter HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Explorer\\Advanced

Create a new Dword (32-bit) value and name it EnableXamlJumpView

Set its value to 1< Br>

Restart the computer
