"Error 1068" error message appears when trying to open Internet Connection Sharing

  
                  

When you run the Internet Connection Sharing Wizard, you may receive one of the following error messages:

An error occurred while Internet Connection Sharing was being enabled. The service or group failed to start.

-or-

1068: Dependency service or group failed to start.

Solution:

To resolve this issue, make sure all related services are started . To do this, follow these steps:

Click “Start”, then click “Help & Support”.

Under “Select Tasks>, click “Use Tools to View Your Computer Information and Analyze Problems”.

In the "Tools" section, click “System Configuration Utility”.

In the right pane, click “Open System Configuration Utility”. The System Configuration Utility opens.

Click the “Services' tab.

Make sure all of the following services are turned on. To open the service, click to select the appropriate checkbox.

Application Layer Gateway Service Network Connection Network Location Awareness (NLA) Plug and Play Remote Access Automatic Connection Manager Remote Access Connection Manager Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Telephony

Click &ldquo ;OK”, then click “Restart”.

After restarting Windows, re-run the "Internet Connection Sharing Wizard".
