Windows XP operating system activation full manual

Everyone knows that Microsoft has a restriction on the use of Windows operating system: a legally authorized copy of the Windows operating system can only be installed on a computer, but the fact Many people have not complied with this restriction, and activation technology is a means to ensure that an authorization can only be installed on a computer. Therefore, within 30 days of installing Windows XP, we must activate it if we want to continue using Windows XP. In the process of activation, the system will combine the detailed configuration of the hardware and the PID (Product ID) number generated after installing the operating system, and then generate a string of codes according to the hash algorithm, and we need to pass this code through the Internet or The phone tells Microsoft that Microsoft will return another new number to us and use this number to successfully activate Windows XP.

If not activated in time, Windows XP will not be available after expiration. When you start your computer later, Windows will compare the hardware device you are currently using with the hardware device you used to activate. If the hardware device changes a lot, we can't continue to use our Windows XP unless we can Contact Microsoft and reactivate. The situation is different for the brand machine purchased. The general brand machine is pre-installed with the OEM version of the Windows XP operating system and has been successfully activated. This version of system activation is determined by the BIOS. We can replace any hardware without having to activate it again. Let's take a look at how activation is caused by things!

What is product activation?

The Microsoft Product Activation Service is an anti-non-genuine technology designed to verify that a software product has a legal license.

The activation technology will check which hardware

The activation technology will check 10 kinds of hardware, namely:

Graphics card, SCSI adapter, IDE controller, network card and MAC address, memory range, processor type, processor serial number, hard disk, volume serial number, optical drive.

During the installation of the operating system, the installer will check the above hardware, and record the corresponding data, and save it on the hard disk, in fact, is the WPA.dbl file. In the later activation process, this number and PID will be used to generate a 25-bit string and send it out. And if we install Windows XP with SP1 integrated, or install SP1 and then activate it after installing XP, then we need to send the product key to Microsoft during the activation process, which will shield some networks from spreading widely. The product key leaked out so that products installed with these serial numbers cannot be activated. In the future, each time Windows starts, it will check the hardware repeatedly to ensure that Windows is running on the same computer. Similarly, if we format the hard drive and reinstall Windows XP, we need to activate it again, because the activation number saved on the hard disk is gone (that is, the Windowssystem32WPA.dbl file is missing), we have to re-acquire.

How to backup activation information

Back up the two files wpa.dbl and wpa.bak under the system32 folder, and also back up the CDKEY installation. After CDKEY is installed, you can activate Windows XP by copying two files directly into the system32 folder. It should be noted that the activation information of such backup is only valid for the system with the same installation information, for example, the hardware environment is unchanged, the hard disk partition is unchanged, and the like. Emphasize: different CDKEY activation wpa.dbl is different, do not mix.

How does Microsoft Activation Technology work?

Product Activation Technology works by verifying the software product key that is included with the product installation media and that has not been used beyond the scope of the Software Product End User License Agreement (EULA). Normally, Windows XP can be installed on a PC, and Office XP can be installed on a PC and the laptop of this PC user. (For further details, please review the EULA provided with the product). During the activation process, the product key information provided in the form of a product identification will be sent to Microsoft's product activation system along with the "Hardware Hash Code", a non-unique digital code generated according to the PC hardware configuration. In Windows XP SP1, the product key itself will also be sent with the product ID. Activation can be done either directly via the Internet or by calling a customer service call. The number of activations on the same PC using the same product key will be unlimited. Product activation technology effectively combats software non-genuine behavior by limiting the number of activations that a particular product key allows on different PCs.

How can I determine if the product I have installed is activated?

In all Office XP family products, users can select "Activate Products" from the Help menu to determine the current activation status. In the Windows operating system, the user can select "Start", "Program", "Accessories", "System Tools", "Activate Product" to determine the activation status.

If you connect to the product activation service via the Internet?

For Office XP family products, activation via the Internet requires users to have their own Internet Service Provider (ISP) connection. Those who do not have an ISP connection must complete the activation by calling a customer service representative. For the Windows XP operating system, users who do not have an ISP connection can be activated through Microsoft's ISP network. Users who do not have an ISP connection and cannot use the Microsoft ISP network can only activate by calling a customer service representative.

Windows XP Official Activation

It is Microsoft's obligation to protect intellectual property and reduce non-genuine software. Every vendor in the economy – not just software makers – is deeply affected by software non-genuine, including retailers, support providers, and you as an end user. Genuine Microsoft software guarantees high quality, no virus, not genuine software.

Windows XP retail products include a software-based product activation technology, which means you need to activate your Windows XP to use it. Some new PCs pre-installed with Windows XP also need to be activated. If your organization is licensed for Windows XP through Microsoft's volume license agreement programs, such as Open License and Select License, you do not need to activate these Windows XP licenses.

Product Activation Technology

Microsoft Product Activation is a non-genuine technology used to verify that a software product has a legal license. Its purpose is to reduce the random copy of this form of non-genuine. Activation also helps prevent hard drive copying. The activation process is fast, simple and undisclosed to protect your privacy.

The principle of product activation is that it verifies that the product key of the software program is not used on more than the number of personal computers specified on the software license. You must use the product key to install this software and the product key is converted to the installation ID number. You can use the Activation Wizard to provide this installation ID number to Microsoft, which can be transmitted securely over the Internet, or it can be provided over the phone. A confirmation ID will then be sent back to your computer to activate your software product.

The installation ID number includes an encrypted product ID and a hardware hash value or checksum, excluding, and does not require any personal identification data. The confirmation ID is just an unlock code for installing Windows XP on this particular PC.

If you overhaul your computer and replace a significant amount of hardware, it may appear as another PC. At this point you may have to reactivate Windows XP. If this happens, you can reactivate the software by dialing the phone number shown on the activation screen.
