Do you know some tips for "My Network Places"? (1)

Windows 2000 gives us a very powerful network function. I usually like to interact with my colleagues through "My Network Places". Over time, I have accumulated some online using Windows 2000. It’s very useful to think about neighbors. Therefore, it is organized and shared with "My Network Places" who use Windows 2000.

1. Quickly access different working groups. I believe that there are many working groups in larger companies, so that we have to double-click "My Network Places" on the desktop when visiting colleagues who are not in the same working group. The entire network "→ "all content" → "Microsoft Windows Network", and then find the working group of the colleague from below, and finally can find. There are many steps. In fact, we can completely enter the "Microsoft Windows Network", right click on the "Microsoft Windows Network" project, and then select the "Create Shortcut" command, this will create a shortcut on the desktop, next time To access a different workgroup colleague, just double-click on the shortcut.

2, pay attention not to delete files easily. Users who use Windows are not unfamiliar with the "recycle bin". It gives us a "regret". Many of our mistakenly deleted files were found in it. However, everyone should pay attention to the fact that in the shared folder of the network neighborhood, you can not delete the file casually, because the author tried and found that the deleted file will not be in the system recycler of the folder owner. Will be deleted in your recycle bin, that is, completely! So be careful when deleting files from your network neighborhood! Of course, in order to prevent misuse, it is a good choice not to open the write permission to the other party or to open the write operation permission to the specified user.

3, quick access to non-domain colleagues Some large companies have different working groups, and there are many friends in the working group, we want to visit them are generally selected from the "Microsoft Windows Network" work group And then choose the appropriate friend. In fact, there is absolutely no need to be so troublesome! If we know the name of the colleague's computer, just type \\\\ in the address bar of the Explorer or Internet Explorer and add the name of the colleague's computer (of course you may be asked to enter your username and password, which is for security reasons. need). If the author wants to visit Zhang San's machine, and he and I are not in the same working group, I just need to enter \\\\ Zhang in the resource manager or Internet Explorer address bar, enter the user name and password to access directly. Of course, if you want to quickly access other people, just enter the name, it is very convenient.

4. Quick access to the already accessed folder We know that the files we have visited recently will be stored in the Windows documentation folder. Do you know that? The folders of your recently visited My Network Places will be placed in the "My Network Places" folder, so if you want to access the folders of recently visited colleagues again, just double-click the "My Network Places" icon on the desktop. It can see a shortcut like "xxx on xxx", you can enter it without double-clicking it!

5. Quickly install network printers Although printers are cheaper, there is a printer on everyone's computer that may not be a reality in some places. Therefore, sometimes you have to print with the help of a network printer. Under normal circumstances, we want to install a network printer on this machine, click "Start" → "Settings" → "Printer", then double-click "Add Printer", and then step into the drive disk to install the network printer. In fact, this is not necessary, as long as we let the other party share the network printer, then open the folder where the other party's network printer is located from the network neighborhood, and then click "Start" → "Settings" → "Printer" to open the machine's " "Printer" folder, then use the mouse to drag the other party's network printer to the "printer" folder of the machine, and select the "Install" command in the slide-out menu. After a while, Windows will put the network printer The driver is installed. You can choose a network printer to print when you print later, which is quite convenient, huh! Of course, this example is based on the installation of a printer. For other devices, I think that as long as colleagues open a share, the installation and use should be similar.

6. View your own shared directory When you share a lot of folders to users on the LAN, you may not know which folders are shared by yourself for a long time. If you open the folder by memory or open it, it is obviously very troublesome. In fact, we just click the "Start" → "Run" command, then enter "CMD" to start the "Command Prompt", then enter the "net share" command at the command prompt, then a list will be displayed, showing Out of all your shared directories, so you can do it with your heart. Of course, you can also choose whether to close them or continue sharing.

7. Stealth in Network Neighborhood If you don't want colleagues to see you through "Network Neighborhood", you can click "Start" → "Run", then enter "regedit" to open the "Registry Editor" ", find [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Services\\LanmanServer\\Parameters], create a new Hidden double-byte value in the right pane and set its value to 1. Then restart your computer and after a while you will disappear from the list of network neighbors. Note: However, if someone enters your name on the address bar, they will still be able to access you (see Tip 3 above).

8. Permanently close management disk sharing. By default, even if we select "Do not share this folder" in the sharing tab of the drive properties, you can delete "C$", "D$" "The disk sharing for management, but after you reboot, it will be

re-established. If we want to turn this off for security, you can open the Registry Editor, navigate to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\System\\CurrentControlSet\\Services\\LanmanServer\\Paramaters], and create a file called "AutoShareWks" in the right pane. A double-byte value, set to 0 to turn off disk sharing for management, and set to 1 to turn it on.

9, faster access to Windows 98 computers According to the general experience, when Windows 2000 computers access Windows 98 computers in the LAN, it takes a long time to open the other computer (sometimes there is a delay of 30 seconds), but good This happens only when the computer name of the other party is opened. Therefore, when we access the Windows 98 computer from a Windows 2000 computer, we can click the "Start" → "Run" command, and then enter "\\\\ computer name \\ share file name" in the "Run" window, press Enter Open the other party's directory directly, and the speed will become very fast. But this method of palliative treatment, in order to completely solve, we can click the "Start" → "Run" command, enter "regedt32" to open the Registry Editor, find [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\ in the Registry Editor Microsoft\\Windows\\Current Version\\Explorer\\RemoteComputer\\NameSpace]. Found under the branch, in order to be safe, the user can back up the key first, then delete the key, close the registry editor, and even take effect without restarting the computer. Now double-click on the Windows 98 colleague's machine to try it out. Has the delay been gone? Note: regedt32 is an enhanced version of regedit in Windows 2000 that provides more powerful features than regedit, which is needed to modify certain key values in the registry.
