Windows 2000 Management Documentation

The management of documents involves opening, viewing, editing, searching, etc. The Windows 2000 Explorer is still the main place to manage documents, and the new "Folder", "History", "Search" buttons, The automatic memory function, multiple opening methods, etc. further enhance its management functions. In addition, the biggest change in the "Open" dialog is the addition of the Outlook-style toolbar. Some common operations can be done through dialogs without having to launch the Explorer window.

2.2.1 Understanding the Resource Manager

When you click the "Folder" button in the Explorer, the left pane will display all the folders in a hierarchical structure. It includes folders for the local hard drive and resources available within Network Neighborhood. If the disk and folder names are preceded by a plus sign, they are turned off. If the disk and folder names are preceded by a minus sign, they are open.

After selecting the disk, the size of the disk will be displayed in the Explorer, and the value of the used space, the available space, and its pie shape will be given. In the right pane, the subfolders and their files contained in the selected disk or folder are displayed. Double-click the folder icon to expand the contents in a step-by-step manner until a file appears.

Click the "History" button in the Explorer window and the Explorer window will be split into three (as shown in Figure 2-8). The “History” pane on the left side displays the files or Web pages that the user has previously viewed. When the “View” drop-down list box is opened, the content can be browsed by “Time”, “Name”, “Visits”, etc. Sort.
